Information collected through our store
- Orders and enquiries: information you provide, such as your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses, ordered books, order number, and messages. Bulk enquiries may include your organisation, requested titles, quantities, and delivery location.
- Account and transaction records: account details where an account exists, order history, payment status, delivery information, and return or refund correspondence.
- Website activity: technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, and the referring page or campaign that brought you to the store. Our store software can associate referral information with an order.
How information is used
We use information to operate the store, process and fulfil orders, arrange deliveries and prepaid returns, communicate about purchases, respond to enquiries, maintain records, understand how customers find our store, and detect misuse or technical problems. If you subscribe to marketing emails, subscription details are used for those messages; you may unsubscribe using the instructions in the email or contact us.
Cookies and browser storage
Our WordPress and WooCommerce store uses cookies for functions such as shopping carts, sessions, sign-in, and order referral information. The wishlist stores selected book identifiers in your browser’s local storage. You can remove saved books using the wishlist controls or clear your browser’s site data. Blocking cookies or clearing storage may remove your cart, wishlist, or sign-in session.
Service providers and disclosures
The store is hosted by Hostinger and uses WordPress and WooCommerce. Hosting, email, and website support services process information needed to provide those services. Our site also includes Hostinger Reach email subscription software. Delivery providers receive the information needed to deliver orders and handle returns. When a payment service is offered at checkout, that provider processes the information required for the payment under its own privacy terms.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to respond to a valid legal request, investigate fraud, or protect the store and its customers. Do not send full payment-card details by email or through our contact form.
Retention and your requests
Retention depends on the type of record and the reason it is kept. Our store does not currently apply automatic expiry periods to account and order records. Records may remain until reviewed and removed, and some information may need to be retained for accounting, disputes, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.
You can contact Info@brightshelfbooks.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. We may need to verify your identity. We will consider your request under applicable law and explain any information that must be retained. Clearing your browser’s data does not delete order records held by the store.
Security and policy changes
This website uses HTTPS to encrypt information in transit. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. We may update this policy as our services and practices change; the date above identifies the latest revision. For privacy questions, use the contact details above.
